I saw our bread was getting slightly stale, so I decided to make French toast this morning. Hit me with your favorite French toast recipes!
My usual is:
🍞 Bread that’s getting a little stale
🥚Egg (can stretch with egg whites too)
🥛Milk or half n half (whatever I’ve got)
🥣crushed corn flakes or other cereal if you want a crust after dipping in the egg mixture
Soaking in my grandmother's Jadeite bowl |
You know the drill: mix it all in a shallow dish and then dip/soak the bread. If you want a crust, then dip in the crushed cereal. Then onto a hot griddle, cook, flip, cook some more.
For two people I can stretch 1 egg by adding egg whites and the milk, plus it’s slightly less fat if you watch that stuff, but let's not fool ourselves: It’s French toast. It’s not going to be healthy. Carbs turn to fat. 😅 I like to serve it with a sausage patty.
Anyway, what’s your favorite way to make French toast?
It may not be beautiful, but it was delish! |
